This picture was taken some 25 years ago in Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It depicts the entrance to Lover's Lane, which I've traced back as far back as 1901. I'm told there's a rather old painting of it somewhere as well, and that it's changed remarkably little over the years. I was back there recently, and it's still lovely -- as is the park itself.

Beacon Hill Park is on the south end of Vancouver Island, across the Straight of Juan de Fuca from the state of Washington, USA. Several pods of Orcas (Killer Whales) cruise that straight. It's a beautiful place to visit.

This picture was selected for several reasons. For one, I wanted something nice to to look at that wouldn't be too slow to download on a slow network link. Grey scale JPGs are remarkably efficient of bandwidth. There are no copyright concerns, since I took it myself (on Ilford film, as I recall).

And I like the picture. It looks calm and peaceful, which is the whole point. Well configured networks, managed by people you can trust, are great for your peace of mind.
